ASSISTANT PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR

Experience with RecTrac recreational software is essential as well as knowledge of financial systems such as InCode or other similar application.

STREET MAINTENANCE WORKER

The City of Harrisonville, Missouri is accepting applications for a full-time Street Maintenance Worker. 

Applicants must have or be eligible to acquire a class B CDL with air brakes endorsement, be able to perform heavy lifting, outdoor work, and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must be able to perform bending and reaching to both ground level and overhead; lifts, carries, pushes and pulls up to 80 pounds; must be able to hold and grip objects. 

Successful applicants will be subject to on-call and on occasion must work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, and weekends. 

Work is primarily outdoors and will be exposed to extreme weather conditions. 

A successful candidate will be required to relocate to within 30-minute drive time to the Street Department Warehouse. 

Pay range $15.43 to $19.29/hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The city offers excellent benefits.

POLICE OFFICER

The City of Harrisonville, MO is seeking applicants to join our team of 25 police professionals. Candidates must possess Missouri POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certification. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. Applicants will be required to pass a series of written examinations, CVSA, extensive background investigation, oral review board, physical, psychological evaluation, eye exam, and pre-employment drug screen.

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (DISPATCH)

The Harrisonville Police Department is now accepting applications for a full-time Communications Officer (Dispatch).

Applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED. Applicants will be required to undergo a CVSA examination, extensive background investigation, oral review board, and post offer pre-employment drug screen. 

This position requires the ability to handle multiple duties at once, while also responding to interruptions. Must be able to simultaneously hear and understand phone and radio traffic via headset or external speakers. Must be able to make quick and accurate decisions based on policy and protocol. Must be able to think outside the box when presented with a unique situation. This position requires the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information. Must be able to maintain composure and control of self and voice under high pressure situations. Must be able to arrive to work on time and stay for the duration of your shift, or until your relief arrives. Must be able to work all shifts to include swing shifts, overnights, holidays, and weekends. Additionally, this position requires you to be subject to mandatory overtime. Must be able to work with background noise and frequent interruptions. Desirable qualifications to work in a 9-1-1 dispatch center are typing, telephone skills, and verbal/written communication skills. 

Applicants must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, day shift, night shifts, midshift and holidays. Upon hire, applicants will also be required to pass MULES, NCIC, and Medical Priority Dispatch training for Police, Fire, and Ambulance.

FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC

POSITION SUMMARY: Harrisonville, Missouri is a 4th class city located 30 miles south of Kansas City, Missouri with a population of approximately 10,000. Harrisonville Emergency Services is a department with up to date equipment with state of the art EMS equipment. Currently employee’s 21 full time personnel including command staff that performs the challenging work of emergency medical care, fire suppression, fire prevention and rescue. The fire department operates a 24 hour Modified Berkley Schedule. The department operates one ALS engine, and two fully staffed ALS ambulances from one station.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responds to emergency situations and incident to suppress fires, affect rescues/extrications, participated in searches, mitigate hazardous materials and perform other duties as assigned and capable.

• Operate firefighting tools, aerial equipment, emergency medical equipment, extrication and rescue equipment and a variety of related tools and vehicles.

• Provide basic and advanced life support and emergency medical care.

• Participates in on-going technical and physical training to maintain certifications.

• Cleans and performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to department facilities.

• Participates in fire prevention and safety education/promotional events. Conducts station tours and gives presentations and demonstrates the use of the fire suppression and safety equipment.

• Assists in documenting incident and provides incident information to appropriate agencies and supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The city will send selected individuals to Firefighter I & II Training if necessary.

Required Qualifications:

•Possession of a valid state driver’s license

•High school diploma or equivalent.

•Paramedic Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Vocational/technical training in firefighting and emergency medical treatment with two years of firefighting and paramedic experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Possession of EMT-P certification, Firefighter I & II, hazardous materials operation, advanced life support, and basic life support certifications (ACLS, PALS, BTLS, CPR-Health Care Provider).

Pay starts at $41,500 Benefit package includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance; Missouri LAGERs pension, discounted membership to the City’s Community Center, tuition assistance program, and employee wellness program.

ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

The City of Harrisonville is accepting applications for part-time Animal Control Officer.

Duties include cleaning and routine maintenance of the shelter and shelter property, care of animals, assist in the humane disposal of animals, maintenance records of all animals, respond to calls for service, ordinance enforcement and other duties as assigned.

Applicants must be able to perform bending and reaching to both ground level and overhead, lifts, carries, pushes and pulls up to 100 pounds. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, valid Missouri driver’s license, able to read and write, have good communication skills, have the ability to work well with persons of all ages and establish a good rapport with the public, basic computer skills and previous skills working with animals desired. Some evenings and weekend hours are required.

Salary starts at $15.43 per hour.

SEASONAL PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKERS 

Staff will perform a range of manual tasks including semi-skilled and skilled work, equipment operations and park maintenance duties to maintain a safe, clean, and user-friendly environment for park users. 

Responsible for park mowing, weed eating and trimming. Assist with the assembly of playgrounds and similar projects as assigned. Prepare athletic fields for use as directed. Ensure park restrooms and public facilities are in good condition. Clean park shelters as needed and empty trash barrels. Paint lines and install nets. Inspect and repair playground equipment. Trim trees and bushes, clean and maintain park fountain and wash vehicles as needed. 

High school diploma or GED required. Mechanical aptitude required. Ability to safely operate equipment is required. 

$11.00 per hour. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license to be eligible.

TOT-WATCH ATTENDANT

Staff will provide customer service to all members and guests at the Community Center; answer and transfer phone calls; assist with the upkeep of the front desk and Tot-Watch as well as the upkeep of the fitness floor; enjoy working with children. 

Position is limited to 25 hours per week at a rate of $10.35 per hour. Tot-Watch hours of operation are Monday - Saturday 9am to 12pm and Monday – Thursday 5pm to 8:30pm.
